About the Artist: Lisa Oristian
Lisa Oristian grew up in Auburn, and when she entered college, started out in an art curriculum.
Then, by any number of twists and turns and drops and adds, eventually got a masters degree in
counseling from SUNY Oswego and had a long and successful career as personal counselor
in higher education.

After nearly 20 years of helping college students, Lisa returned to her first love, art. She has
taken numerous studio courses at Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute's Art School in Utica, NY,
where she now also teaches. But, primarily has studied design and technique on her own.

A fan of vintage jewelry, Lisa is fortunate to live in the heart of Upstate New York's "antiques
country", the Madison-Bouckville area east of Syracuse. As a result, she prowls the many local
antique stores to find vintage elements to incorporate into her original designs. The result is a
modern new setting for an antique original. This melding of the past and present creates all kinds
of prospects for a stylish future for these unique works of Lisa's
art jewelry.

Lisa lives in extremely rural Hubbardsville, NY where she is active in several organizations. She
and her husband, cat Jane and dog Spike live in an old farmhouse that should be renovated "by
the holidays."

About the Name
Yep, it's strange. It is a loving tribute to a wonderful family member who has since passed on,
Loono, a Labrador Retriever who shared our place for many years. She was not really all that
generous with her kisses, and that made them all that much more desired ... and sweet.
